Kava in Fiji, known as yanqona (or more informally as "grog") is an important part of Fijian culture, history and daily life. In Fiji, yangona is used for ceremonies, entertaining guests, discussing community business or simply relaxing at the end of the work day.
The Fijian kava sold at Liminal Brew is grown in Savusavu on Vanua Levu. It's grown at high altitudes in the bush, over an hour and a half from any of the main roads. The unique soil in this area allows the kava plants to grow extremely tall with powerful roots.
